Vancie J.D. Thomas, 72, of Kountze died on Friday, April 9, 2010. J.D. was born on August 22, 1937 in Lawton, Oklahoma to John Alton and Willie D. Thomas. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Freedom Assembly of God Church in Kountze. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
J.D. is survived by his son, Randy Thomas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a brother, Cordell Thomas of Arkansas; sisters, Billie Simmons and Wanda Knapp both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with burial to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at Broussard’s.
