Herbert Joseph Thibodeaux, 74, of
Winnie, TX, died Saturday December 24, 2016, with his family by his side.
Herbert was born on November 1,
1942, as the first child to Oleat and Rena Thibodeaux, in Eunice, Louisiana.
They moved to Hamshire, Texas in 1946 to join its growing rice farming
community. Herbert grew to be a fantastic cook
and lover of food. Among several business endeavors with his brother Harold,
his passion led him to open AL-T’s Restaurant & Boudain Factory in 1984,
which is still open today. He lived vivaciously! He loved
rolling dice and the Dallas Cowboys. He adored babies and flourished by
constantly helping others. In his latter years, he enjoyed working cows on his
and his brothers “T-bone Ranch”, named after their father. Herbert is survived by 2 children:
Clinton Thibodeaux and Brad Thibodeaux of Winnie; 2 step-children: Eric Day of
Fannett and Hollie Schramm of Bellville; 6 grand-children: Savannah Thibodeaux
of Winnie, Chelsea Thibodeaux and Carli Thibodeaux of Lumberton, Kerragen Hanna
Day of Winnie, and Layla Schramm and Trey Schramm of Bellville; and 1
great-grandchild: Abigail Kahla. He is also survived by his sister,
Geraldine Turner and her husband, John, of Burnet, Texas; Harold Thibodeaux and
his wife, Heather, of Beaumont, Texas; and Billy Thibodeaux, of Gun Barrel
City, Texas. His pallbearers will be Larry
Thibodeaux, Blayne Bagwell, Steve Stelly, Dustin Northcutt, Gabe Johns, and
Jarett Thibodeaux, with honorary pallbearers being Allen Hubert and Bill O’day. A gathering of Mr. Thibodeaux's
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary
recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Broussard's, 134 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00
a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 315 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, with his interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery,
Winnie.
