Paul "NeNe" Jean, Jr.

Paul “NeNe” Jean, Jr., 91, a longtime
resident of Beaumont, Texas, was reunited with the Lord on December 21, 2016, while
at home surrounded by family.
He was born on December 25, 1924, in
Cankton, Louisiana, the son of the late Pearl and Paul Jean, Sr. On November 4,
1946, he married the love of his life, Maxine Elizabeth Colligan, whom he remained
devoted to for 64 years, until her passing. To this union, six children were
born.
A distinguished veteran, Paul served
honorably in the United States Army during World War II. After his discharge,
he was employed by DuPont Chemical until his retirement. Mr. Jean was also a
faithful member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.
In his spare time, he loved
gardening and caring for his cattle at his beloved farm. His unwavering love
for his family, and Catholic faith was praiseworthy. He will be greatly missed,
but has left a lasting impression on all who knew, and loved him.
He leaves behind two siblings, Floyd
Jean (Claudette) and Gertrude Linton, both of Beaumont. He also leaves behind
to cherish his memories, four children, Cheryl Palmer (Randall), of San Antonio,
Gerald Jean and Kerry Jean (Ava), both of Beaumont; and Vanessa Burton, of
Manvel. Mr. Jean further leaves behind several grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and many others whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his
parents, Pearl and Paul Jean, Sr. In addition to his parents; he is preceded in
death by his children, Rebecca and Rickey Jean; two brothers, Garfield Jean and
Lloyd Jean; three sisters, Louise Campbell, Hilda Rubit and Mary-Lee Guidry,
and his loving wife, Maxine.
A
gathering of Mr. Jean's family and friends will begin at 9:30 a.m., with
his Rosary recited at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at Our Lady of
the Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont. A Mass of
Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic
Church, with Reverend Antony Paulose, officiating. His entombment will follow at
Live Oak Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605
North Major Drive, Beaumont.
