Joe Barina, Jr.
June 11, 1947 - November 9, 2016

Philippians 3:14 - I press onward toward the goal to win the Prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Joe Barina, Jr., 69, of Beaumont, Texas, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas. He was born on June 11, 1947, to Mildred Louise Huntsucker Barina and Oscar Joe Barina, Sr. in Goldsmith, Texas.

Joe graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in Bible. He also obtained his degree from Sunset School of Preaching. At age 19, his lifelong passion of preaching began, and Joe never overlooked an opportunity to preach or teach. He retired from BASF.

He lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. Joe lived out what he believed--“that people are priority”. He devoted his energy to loving and serving others. Joe’s positive spirit and love lives on in the lives of those he influenced. Joe’s earthly jewels were his family and his ministry to God’s church. It is with great peace and honor that Joe left his world to be with his maker--his one true goal.

Survivors include his wife, Reatha Barina; daughters, Angela Dockery and her husband, David, of Denton, Texas and Tisha Wilhite and her husband, Brent, of Searcy, Arkansas; son, Caleb Barina of Beaumont, Texas; brothers, Howard Barina and his wife, Beth, of Brady, Texas and Lloyd Barina and his wife, Jennifer, of Granberry, Texas; sisters, Lenora Cates and Sharon Coon, both of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Alex, Jeremiah, Lindsey, Jadyn, and Hudson; and great-grandchildren, Cameron and Aubry.

A reception will be held immediately after the services. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, Texas.
