Dora
Mae Manasco Colston, 89, of Cheek, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Baptist
Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on August 5, 1927, in
Geneva, to Ola Gladys Jones and William Arthur Manasco.
Dora
was the youngest of three children; her father being a share cropper/carpenter
and moving frequently; Dora graduated in 1945, from Robeline High School,
Robeline, Louisiana.
She
met the love of her life and after a short six week courtship, at the age of 18;
Dora married Johnnie Eugene Colston on June 5, 1946. From that marriage their love brought seven
children, Lynda, Ronnie, Donnie, Terry, and a set of triplets that lived only a
few hours.
Dora
lost her loving husband in April of 2003, having been married for fifty-six
years. In December of 2013, she also lost her oldest son, Ronnie. With her
great losses and the Lord by her side, Dora remained strong in her faith.
She
is survived by her daughter, Lynda France and her husband, Forrest; sons,
Donnie Colston and his wife, Paula and Terry Colston and his wife, Kathy;
daughter-in-law, Debbie Colston; grandchildren, Dawn Guidry, Missy Viator, Hope
Standley, Stacey Day, Cody Colston, Ashley Colston, and Cade Colston; and ten
great-grandchildren.
Dora
is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Colston; son, Ronnie
Colston; and three beautiful baby girls.
A gathering of Mrs. Colston's
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October
14, 2016, at Broussard's. 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service
will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Broussard's, with her
interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.
