Joseph Anthony Bruno

Joseph Anthony Bruno, 87, of LaBelle, died Thursday, September 29, 2016. He was born on July 4, 1929, to Mary Mondello Bruno and Salvatore Bruno, in Port Arthur before moving to Labelle, where he spent his entire adult life.

Joseph served in the Air National Guard in the 136th Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron. He was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Joseph helped establish the Labelle Fannett Volunteer Fire Department and worked for many years at Gulf Oil Company.

Survivors include his stepson, John Chappell; stepdaughters, Crystal Harris and Natalie Derrick; step grandsons, Casey Beasley and Brandon Everett; six great grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn Monk, Lena Mallet, Sadie Harrington, and Tootsie Dartez.

Her was preceded in death by his wife of forty-one years, Glenys J. Bruno; stepdaughter, Janet G. Taylor; parents, Salvatore and Mary Bruno; sisters, Rose Licatino and Mary Hebert; and brothers, Roy Bruno and Nick Bruno.

A Rosary for Mr. Bruno will be recited at 5:30 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 3, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Fannett with his entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
