Russell Joseph Knott,
71, of Hemphill, formerly of Nederland, died Sunday, September 18, 2016. He was born on February
11, 1945, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to Marie Meche Knott and Valex Knott.
Russell was a United
States Air National Guard veteran. He retired as an operator from
Lyondellbasell Industries after forty-two years. Russell enjoyed fishing,
playing games with family and friends, taking joy rides in his boat, and
working in his garden/fruit trees. He was well known for his craftsmanship in
carpentry and unique ability to help solve those unsolvable home improvement
projects that friends and family struggled with. Russell was very mechanically
inclined and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his
wife of forty-eight years, Sharron Knott of Hemphill; daughters, Christy Smith
and her husband, Jeff, of Port Neches and Jamie Reddell and her husband, Wade,
of Houston; grandchildren, Blake and Brooke Smith and Karli and Kinley Reddell;
brother, Rickie Knott and his wife, Cathy, of Nederland; and sisters, Janice
Horn of Nederland; Lisa Pipak and her husband, Joe, of Dallas; and Kayla Lee
and her husband, Keith, of Nederland. He was preceded in death by his parents;
and brother, Oren Knott.
A gathering of Mr.
Knott’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a
Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505
North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Catholic
Church, 2006 Nall Street, Port Neches, with his interment to follow at Oak
Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
