Wilber “Butch” Wayne Cummings,
76, of Lumberton,
died Friday, September 16, 2016. He was
born on November 28, 1939, in Saratoga,
to Farris Wells Cummings and Ernest Cummings.
Butch served his country in the United States Army and later retired as
Justice of the Peace for Precinct 5 in Lumberton.
Survivors include his wife,
Barbara Cummings; children, Kevin Cummings and his wife, Cindy, of Kountze and
Karen Westbrook and her husband, Michael, of Lumberton; grandchildren, Koby
Cummings, Mollie Westbrook, Aaron Westbrook, and Ella Westbrook; siblings, Ken
Cummings and his wife, Julie, of Shreveport, Louisiana and Sissy Chessher of
Saratoga; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, R.L. Cummings,
Jimmy Cummings, Carl Cummings, John Cummings, Gene Cummings, Bernice Fields,
Ruth Anderson, Lois Whittman, and Faye Taylor.
A gathering of Butch’s family and
friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 19, 2016, at
Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road,
Silsbee. His funeral service will be
2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Crestwood
Baptist Church,
six miles north of Lumberton High School on Highway 69, with his interment to
follow at Guedry Cemetery, Batson.
At Butch’s request, memorial
contributions may be made to the Lumberton Lions Club, 624 South Main Street, Lumberton,
Texas 77657. These contributions will help sponsor a child
to attend Kids Camp.
