John Leonard Setliff
November 8, 1931 - September 8, 2016
John L. Setliff, 84, of Nederland,
died Thursday, September 8, 2016. He was born on November 8, 1931, in Beaumont,
to Grace Leslie Plummer Setliff and Rob Roy Setliff, and had been a lifelong
resident of the area.
John worked for American Rice
Growers for forty-two years and Beaumont Rice Mill for seventeen years as a
Rice Grader. He attended Beaumont schools and Lamar University. John could tell
you anything you would want to know about cars, past and present. He enjoyed
Fox News and was an avid football fan.
Survivors include his loving wife
of sixty-three years, JoAnn Setliff of Nederland; sons, Scott E. Setliff of
Hemphill, Jeff L. Setliff and his wife, Valarie, of Nederland and daughter in
law, Terri Setliff of Naperville, Illinois; five grandchildren, Ryan, Austin,
Jessica, Jordan and his wife Becca, and Travis and his wife Christen. He was preceded in death by his
parents; and sons, Steven Setliff and John L. Setliff, Jr.
A gathering of Mr. Setliff’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September
11, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His
funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2016, at Broussard’s,
with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff memorial Park, Port Neches.
