Sammy Henry Modica

Sammy Henry Modica
September 2, 1949 - August 26, 2016

Sammy Henry Modica, Sr. was born on September 2, 1949, in Beaumont, Texas. He was born into Eternal Life on August 26, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona.

A native of Beaumont, Texas, he spent a happy childhood growing up in a loving family with four brothers and sisters, and worked some in his father's business. Sammy graduated from Forest Park High School in 1969 and enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 1970. He served for six years. During that time, Sammy and his two brothers founded Modica Bros. Tires & Wheels centers. He later moved to Houston and continued the family business while raising his two children. Years following, he met the love of his life, Yvonne and they married in 1984 and had two sons. In 1995, Sammy retired from Modica Brothers and moved his family to Michigan where they enjoyed boating, freezing in the snow, skiing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, watching sunsets and enjoying life! Being a true Texan, he later moved his family back to Houston where he truly embraced being the best "Paw Paw" to four amazing grandchildren.

Sammy's wonderful memory will live on through his loving wife of thirty-two years, Yvonne Modica; his children Sammy Modica, Jr. of Houston, Allison Modica McCarson of Beaumont, Joshua Modica and Justin Modica, both of Phoenix, and Lennon Simmons of Kingwood; his siblings J.C. Modica, Jo Lena Modica Raimer and husband Kenneth, all of Beaumont, and Mary Modica of Austin; grandchildren Max Modica, Caden and Chandler McCarson, and McKenzie Modica.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie Modica, Sr., Lucille McReynolds Modica, and his brother, Tommy Modica, Jr.

Sammy lived his life in a way that pleased God and he blessed many people throughout his years.

He had a high and admirable standard of integrity. He was quick with a bright smile and funny story to make you laugh. He led a life of always doing what was right and being helpful to others. He was a kind and gentle man of truth and love for his family and friends and he will be dearly missed by all.

A gathering of Mr. Modica’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 15, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North major Drive, Beaumont. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont. The committal of his cremated body will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
