Margaret “Babe” Ward, 93, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Christus Hospitals – St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on July 25, 1923, in Haynesville, Louisiana, to Rosie May Rebecca Cain Ward and Elmer Fieldon Ward, Sr. Babe retired as a plant assigner for Southwestern Bell after forty-two years and had been an active member of The Anchor Church of Beaumont.

She is survived by her sister, Melba Dupree; sister-in-law, Caroline Ward; nephews, Nathan Dupree and his wife, Jeanette; Mark Ward and his wife, Gerri; and Clint Ward and his wife, Susan; nieces, Becky Hirasaki and her husband, Henry; Margaret Fowler and her husband, Bob; Cherrise Thomas and her husband, Monte; Michelle Sonnier; and Janna Bloomfield; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Babe is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer Fieldon “Phil” Ward, Jr., and James Arthur Ward; brother-in-law, Lester E. “Dutch” Dupree; sister-in-law, Joyce Ward; nephews-in-law, Garland Sonnier and Charles Fowler; and great-niece, Megan Harbison.

A gathering of Babe’s family and friends will begin 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, at The Anchor Church of Beaumont, 6655 TX-105, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00, Saturday, September 10, 2016, at The Anchor Church of Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
