Alfred Frank Steiert, 86, of Cedar Park, formerly of Groves, died Sunday, September 4, 2016. He was born on May 29, 1930, in Sarasota, Florida to Anna Marie Siller Steiert and Joseph Steiert.

 

Alfred was a United States Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War. He retired from Lamar University as a professor in The College of Business after thirty years. Alfred was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Beaumont where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and arts and crafts.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Anna Steiert of West Orange and Laura Steiert; sons, John Steiert and his wife, Katy, of Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada and Alfred Paul Steiert of Vidor; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Steiert and his wife, Nancy, of Okeechobee, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of thirty-eight years, Gerrie Steiert; brothers, Joe and Fred Steiert; sister, Frances Elwell; and sister-in-law, Caroline Thomas.

 

A gathering of Mr. Steiert’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 9, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
