Donald Edward Johnson,
72, of Winnsboro, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016. He was born on June 1, 1944,
in Silsbee, to Charlie Odette Watts and James Edward Johnson.
Don was the oldest of
three children. He graduated from Warren High School,
Class of ’62; then attended Stephen
F. Austin
University on a football
scholarship. He had a business in Bogalusa, Louisiana
before moving back home and began a 33 year career with DuPont, Beaumont, Texas.
Don, being a true cowboy
at heart, was able to spend the next 22 years pursuing his one true passion,
which was ranching in the Gonzales, Texas
area. He was a devoted husband and
father.
Survivors include his
wife, Merline Johnson of Winnsboro; sons, Matthew Johnson and his wife, Teresa,
of Fred; Mark Johnson and his wife, Kimen, of Warren; grandchildren, Rebecca
Wiseman and her husband, John, of Woodville; Cody Johnson and his wife,
Lindsey, of Fred; Garrett Johnson of Fred; Chase Fondren of Warren; Madison
Fondren of Warren; great-grandchildren, Jayden Johnson, Haley Wiseman, Macy
Wiseman, Colton Wiseman, Weston Wiseman, and Tinsley
Johnson; brother, Charles Wayne Parker and his wife, Marye Jean, of Zavalla. He
is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lynn Johnson.
Mr. Johnson’s graveside
service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 5, 2016, at Cunningham Cemetery,
Silsbee, under the direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee.
