Lillian Lanell Snell

Lillian Lanell Snell, 83, of Nederland, died Monday, August 29, 2016. She was born on June 13, 1933, in Kelly, Louisiana, to Ora Mae Grant Harris and John Dozier Harris.

Lillian worked for Nederland I.S.D. in the cafeteria for seventeen years. She then worked as a sales associate at K-Mart for twenty years. Lillian loved gospel singing. She organized the gospel singing at Central Gardens Baptist Church on the first Saturday night of the month for twelve years. Lillian enjoyed playing Canasta with her retired cafeteria workers. She loved jewelry shopping on Harwin Street in Houston. Lillian enjoyed camping and most anything outdoors.

Survivors include her loving and faithful companion, Baby Lilly, her Chihuahua; daughters, Linda Cook and her husband, Terry, of Nederland and Loraine Battenfield and her husband, Larry, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Candace Hartzog and her fiance’, Larry Pulliam;  Dennis Battenfield; Jaime Durrett and her husband, Quenton; Chad Battenfield; Cody Cook; Kris Battenfield and his wife, Jessica; Aaron Cook; and Dana Billings and her husband, Matt; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Wade and her husband, Jerry; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Harris-Metcalf and her husband, James, of Beaumont; four nieces; special friend, T.C. Hollingshead; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leslie Snell; brother, Lavell Harris; and granddaughter, Christi Battenfield.

A gathering of Mrs. Snell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 2, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
