Conroy "Bubba" Hughes, Jr.

Conroy “Bubba” Hughes, Jr., 82, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. A native of Beaumont, he was born on December 30, 1933, to Wilma Ann Henningson Hughes and Conroy Hughes, Sr. Bubba was a lifetime member of the International Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local #1. He was known for his motto, “I’ll handle it, I can take care of it, and I’ll do it”.

Survivors include his wife, Bertie Hughes; daughters, Dianna Haney and her husband, Bobby, of Beaumont; Denise McDaniel and her husband, Bruce, of Dallas; son, CR Hughes III of Beaumont; sister, Deborah Hughes of Beaumont; grandchildren, Christopher Haney and his wife, Gina; Nicholas Hughes; Caleb Hughes; Eric McDaniel; Beau McDaniel; and Jennifer Garza.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Emily Hughes Sisk.

A gathering of Mr. Hughes’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2016, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
