Nancy Marie Smith Meloncon, 73,
passed away on August 14, 2016, in Dallas, Texas.
Nancy was born in El Campo, Texas,
and moved frequently with her family across Texas throughout her childhood.
They eventually settled in Hamshire, Texas, where she met James Lee Meloncon.
Nancy and Jim were married in Winnie in a double ceremony with Jim’s sister on
June 7th 1962, and moved to Norfolk, Virginia where Jim was
stationed in the Navy. There they had their first son, Stephen Craig. Nancy and
Jim moved back to Texas where they had their second son, James Todd. She worked in Houston as a bank teller until
they moved to a farm in Conroe, Texas, where she worked as a school
administrator for 12 years. They relocated to Burlington, Kentucky, where they
lived for over 20 years. Nancy worked at the Boone County Vocational School in
Hebron until her retirement. In 2014, a few years after Jim’s passing, Nancy
moved back to Texas, her true home, to be closer to her sons and
grandchildren.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband
of 48 years, Jim (Jimmy); her father, Arthur Lloyd Smith, (Buddy); and her
mother, Hazel Marie Smith. She is survived by her sons: Stephen and his wife Kimberly,
and Todd and his wife Trisha; grandchildren: Lauren, Ashley, Ali, Connor and
William; great grandchildren: Bennett and Cole Wright; and numerous relatives
and friends.
A gathering for family and friends
will be held at the Hamshire Volunteer Fire Department Community Center from
11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 12393 2nd Street,
Hamshire.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
donations be made to Presbyterian Faith Hospice of Dallas, 4350 Sigma Road
#400, Dallas, Texas 75244, or any charity dear to you and your family.
