Brian
Keith Pinckney, 48, of Harker Heights, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016. He was
born in Groves, on March 20, 1968, to Martha Lyday and Robert Pinckney, and
raised in Southeast Texas. Brian was a graduate of Hamshire-Fannett High
School. He entered the United States Army in March of 1989, where he attended
the Military Police Basic and Advanced Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He had
attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.
Brian
Pinckney’s previous assignments as a Military Policeman include 142nd
Military Police Company, Yongsan, Korea, 980th Military Police
Company, Sierra Army Depot, CA, HHC, 8th Army, Yongsan, Korea, 2nd
Military Police Company, Camp Casey, 977th Military Police Company,
Fort Riley, Kansas.
In
June 1996, Brian Pinckney graduated from the United States Army Criminal
Investigation Command Special Agent Course.
In April 2001, he completed the Warrant Officer Candidate School earning
an appointment as a Warrant Officer in the United States Army. Brian Pinckney completed the Warrant Officer
Basic Course and Advanced Courses, the Warrant Officer Staff Course, and the
Warrant Officer Senior Service Education Course. Additionally, he completed the Hostage
Negotiation Course, Protective Service Training, Child Abuse Prevention and
Investigation Training, Domestic Violence Investigation Training, Special
Victims Unit Investigation Course and the Advanced Crime Scenes Investigations
Techniques Course.
Brian
Pinckney’s previous assignments as a CID agent include, Detachment Sergeant,
Wurzburg, Germany; Detachment Sergeant and Team Chief, Fort Jackson, SC; Team
Chief, Fort Bragg, NC; Team Chief, Iraq; Team Chief and Special Agent in
Charge, Camp Humphreys, Korea; Detachment Commander, Grafenwoehr, Germany; and
most recently Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Fort Hood CID Office,
Fort Hood, Texas.
As
a CID agent, Brian Pinckney deployed to Bosnia in 2008-2009 in support of
Operation Joint Forge. He also deployed
to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2004-2005 and 2008-2009. While deployed to Iraq, Brian Pinckney was
assigned at Mosul, Balad Air Base, and COB Adder, Tallil.
Brian
Pinckney was a 2002 graduate of University of Maryland, College Park where he
earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice History and Associates
Degree in International Studies. Brian
Pinckney received his Master of Business Administration Degree from University
of Phoenix.
Brian
Pinckney received numerous awards and decorations to include the Bronze Star
Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation
Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense
Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal, Nato Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service
Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Brian
Pinckney was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved staying active by exercising
and spending time in the gym. Brian Pinckney enjoyed gardening, reading, and
spending quality time with his family. Brian was a great husband, father, and
soldier who loved his family and his country. Many of Brian’s co-workers
describe him as an exceptional leader, a man of great character, who served his
country with the highest level of dignity, honor, and trust. Brian Pinckney
never backed down from a challenge and always gave 100 percent effort in
everything he did.
Brian
is survived by his wife, Ji Hae Pinckney; children, Angeline Rinehart and her
husband, John Rinehart and Jason Pinckney; father, Robert Pinckney; mother,
Martha Lyday; and brother, Corey Pinckney.
A
funeral service for Brian Keith Pinckney will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August
27, 2016, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive Winnie, with interment to
follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
