Harvey Glenn “H.G.” Welty, 89, of Beaumont, died
Saturday, August 20, 2016, at April’s House of Angels, Port Neches. He was born
on September 12, 1926, in Brinkley, Arkansas, to Florence Lawson Welty and Isacc
Glenn Welty.
H.G. enlisted in the United States Navy and served
during World War II, participating in the Pacific Theater for the Saipan, Guam,
Iwo Jima, and Okinawa Campaigns. After the war, he met and married Gene
Westerterp.
H.G. was employed by Halliburton Services during his
thirty-seven year career in the oil field industry. He worked in Beaumont,
Houston, and overseas in Tripoli, Libya, Cork, Ireland, Diyarbakir, Turkey, and
Esbjerg, Denmark.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Gene Welty, of
Beaumont; sons, Russell Welty, of Wimberley, Texas; and Rick Welty and his wife
Martha, of San Ramon, California; grandchildren, Emily Harkness, Ellen Welty,
Elaine Krajewski, Stephen Welty, Brandon Welty, Suzette Heath, and Blake
Mitchell; and nine great-grandchildren.
H.G. is preceded in death by his parents; and three
brothers, Roy, Carl, and Chuck Welty.
A graveside service for Mr. Welty will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Forest
Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. His committal was held at
Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
