Jimmy R. Baker, Sr.

Jimmy R. Baker, Sr., 86, of Church Point, Louisiana, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Lafayette, Louisiana. He was born February 11, 1930 in Grayson county, Texas to Jimmie Ray Broughton Baker and Joseph Lee Baker.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Baker, of Church Point, Louisiana; sons, Ronnie Baker and his wife, Debbie, of Cuero, Texas; Jimmy Baker, Jr. and his wife, Shelia, of Winnie, Texas; Frank  Baker of  Church Point, Louisiana; Paul Baker and his wife, Connie, of Church Point, Louisiana; and Billy Baker and his wife, Catherine, of Lafayette, Louisiana; grandchildren, , Lesley Baker; Jimmy Baker, III; Kristy Baker; Myles Baker; Allison Baker Romero and her husband, Nathan; David Baker, Jr.; Billy Baker II; Beau Baker; Blake Baker; Angelia Klaproth; Joey Baker, Sr., and his wife, Lisa; Robert Baker and his wife, Heather; Kelli Cox and her husband, Charles; step-grandchildren, Nichole Swearingen and her husband, Stephen; Lauren Gaspar and her husband, Kalen; Chrisonie Richard; Samuel Richard; Lindsay Kulick; sisters, Millie Thompson and her husband, Vernon; and Mary Haskins; brother, Beau Baker and his wife, Dean.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Baker, Sr.; five brothers; and four sisters.

A gathering of Mr. Baker’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2016, at Broussard’s with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
