Walter Ray Thomas, Jr.,
68, of Port Acres, died Thursday, August 4, 2016. He was born on April 2, 1948,
to Grace Edith Moore Thomas and Walter Ray Thomas, Sr., in Port Arthur.
Walter was a United
States Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He spent the majority
of his life as a Boson Mate on ships traveling throughout the world. Walter
enjoyed working in the yard and digging for stones and rocks. He also loved
collecting abandoned cats.
Survivors include his
wife, Sharon Thomas of Port Acres; son, Dale Ainsworth and his wife, Lisa, of
Chesapeake, Virginia; daughters, Terrie Leonard and her husband, David, of Port
Acres; Tanya Thomas of Groves; and Rhonda Thomas of Cross Roads; grandchildren,
Chase, Jayton, Shaylin, Joseph, Briana, Gabriel, Alexia, and Kiralynn; three
stepchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous
nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death
by his parents; Capt. Walter and Grace Thomas; brother, Roy Tiller, Jr.; sister,
Carolyn Tiller Istre; and granddaughter, Kara Lynn Leonard.
Cremation arrangements
will be under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
