John "Jody" Joseph Chesson

John “Jody” Joseph Chesson, 93, of Fannett, died Wednesday, August 3, 2016. He was born on October 10, 1922, in Beaumont, to Estelle Wingate Chesson and Robert Mitchell Chesson.

Jody loved to visit. He never met a stranger, if he didn’t know them, he would before they left. Jody loved to talk about his granddaughters. He enjoyed telling stories about his childhood. Jody liked working his cattle and did until he passed. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Texas Wildlife services program as a wildlife technician.

Survivors include his son, Jody L. Chesson and his wife, Janice, of Fannett; daughter, Lessie Duplechin and her husband, Stanley, of Nome; grandchildren, Stephanie Chesson and Kristin Kaspar and her husband, Aaron.

He was preceded in death by parents; his wife, Betty Jo Chesson; and brother, R. Lee Chesson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Mr. Chesson may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 550 Fannin Ste. 1200, Beaumont, Texas 77701 or to an organization of one’s choice.

A gathering of Mr. Chesson’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2016, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2711 Helena Avenue, Nederland. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with his interment to follow at Broussard Cemetery, Fannett.
