Jimmie Jewel Barefield Terrell

Jimmie Jewel Barefield Terrell, 95, of Beaumont, died Friday, July 29, 2016. She was born on July 2, 1921, in De Kalb, Mississippi, to Mary Ruth McCarthy Barefield and James Walter Barefield, and had been a longtime resident of Beaumont.

Jimmie is survived by her daughter, Debbie Riley and her husband, James, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Christy Cowart and her husband, John, of Lumberton; Cortney Cowart and her husband, Elijah, of League City; and Kent Riley and his wife, Kristian, of Beaumont; great-grandchildren, Eli Cowart, Ella Cowart, Mason Cowart, Emmalynn Cowart, Bailey Riley, Kariss Riley, and Hunter Riley; and twelve nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William P. Terrell; sons, William E. “Billy” Terrell and Franky Glynn Terrell; brothers, Edgar Barefield and his wife, Elgie and Ben Barefield and his wife, Pearl; sister, Louise Fulton and her husband, Herman; and sisters-in-law, Artie “Terry” Bond and her husband, Everett; Lona Mae May; and Dorothy Basey and her husband, John.

A gathering of Mrs. Terrell’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
