Charles Wayne DeYoung
May 26, 1949 - July 23, 2016
Charles Wayne DeYoung, 67, passed away on Saturday, July 23,
2016, at his home in Hamshire. A native of Hamshire, he graduated from Stephen
F. Austin State University. He retired from Select Transportation in 2011. He
was a tennis enthusiast and an involved member of the Southeast Texas tennis
community. He captained multiple USTA league teams and in turn grew lifelong
relationships with his teammates. He enjoyed reading, hiking, and most
importantly, spending time with his family. When not in Southeast Texas, he
spent his time at his cabin in Cloudcroft, New Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Dorothy
DeYoung. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara DeYoung, son, Matt
DeYoung and his wife Allison DeYoung of Hamshire, daughter, Whitney Dreaden and
husband Joseph Dreaden of Hamshire, granddaughters: Madeline, Alivia, and Ella
DeYoung and granddaughter on the way, Stella Dreaden. He is also survived by
brother Kim DeYoung and wife Linda DeYoung of Seabrook, Texas and brother Wade
DeYoung of Searcy, Arkansas.
Wayne was a loving and proud husband, dad, Padre, and friend
who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A
gathering of Mr. DeYoung’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his
memorial service following at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Broussard's
Mortuary, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie
