Paul Roy Simon
April 28, 1930 - July 3, 2016
Paul
Roy Simon, 86, of Fannett, died Sunday, July 3, 2016, at The Arboretum of
Winnie. He was born on April 28, 1930, in Kaplan, Louisiana, to Eve Harrington
Simon and Loudise Simon, and had been a longtime resident of the area.
Roy was very outspoken and never hesitated to tell you what was on his
mind. He was always very curious about everyone and everything. Roy loved his
coffee and old westerns, savored his boudain balls and never missed seafood day
at Texaco. He had a gentle heart and a kind soul and could not stand for
anyone to be upset with him. Roy loved fishing at Rollover Pass and he made sure
everyone knew it; if we were lucky, we could share in his catch. In his youth,
he enjoyed playing pool, and his love of French music lasted throughout his
life.
Mr.
Simon is survived by his nieces, Debra Garner, of Fannett, and Marilyn Beaugh and
Vanessa Revia, both of Winnie; great-nieces, Denise Smith, Raquel Johnson, and
Christie Beaugh; great-nephews, Royce Beaugh and Jay Revia; and numerous other
nieces and nephews.
He
is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Uella Abshire; and brother-in-law,
Norris Abshire.
A
Rosary for Mr. Simon will be recited at 6:00 p.m., with a
gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July
6, 2016, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. His funeral service will
be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Broussard’s, Winnie, with his
interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
