Monica "Bonnie" Bonnell Cone
May 27, 1927 - June 29, 2016
Monica Bonnell “Bonnie” Cone, 89, died on Wednesday, June
29, 2016, in Winnie, which had been her home since 1954. Bonnie was born in Columbia,
Missouri, on May 27, 1927, to Ruby Piper Sappington and Harry Sappington. She
lived her childhood years almost exclusively in Missouri and often worked
beside her father in the family dairy business learning responsibility and the
value of hard work at a young age.
On June 29, 1946, she married Conrad Bryan Cone and their
love in this life continued until his death in 2003. They had three sons: Thomas
Conrad Cone, Timothy Clifton Cone, and Tracy Christopher Cone. Bonnie worked in
Winnie with Travis Pair in his business for many years. She always put family
first. She was active in PTA throughout the school years of her children and
attended virtually every school related event in which her children
participated – along with Conrad.
Bonnie’s parents, husband, oldest son, and granddaughter, Angelica
Suzanne Cone, preceded her in death. She even survived her three younger
siblings: Harry Sappington, Jr.; Pat Olson, and Gwen Goff. Bonnie is survived
by her sons and their wives: Tim and Norsha Cone, Chris and Pam Cone, as well
as her beloved grandchildren, Kathlynn Schultz and her husband, David,
Michael Cone and Noel Bass. She is also survived by a host of dear friends,
among whom are Wanda Null and Gaylon and Mary Louise Dunaway.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be
made to the First United Methodist Church, of Winnie, in memory of Bonnie.
A gathering of Mrs. Cone’s family and friends will begin at
1:00 p.m., with her memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 5,
2016, at First United Methodist Church of Winnie-Stowell, 1708 State Highway 124,
Winnie. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
