Merlene Gillespie

Merlene Gillespie, 76, of Warren, died Thursday, June 23, 2016. She was born on December 29, 1939, in Brookeland, to William Alfred and Bertie Mae McClelland. Mrs. Gillespie worked as a home healthcare provider.

Survivors include her daughters, Debbie Stephenson and her husband, Bill, of Vidor; Jeannie Gillespie of Houston; and Deena Morris and her husband, Jack, of Warren; grandchildren, Teresa Rivera, Wayne Stephenson, Robie Morris, and Stormy Hubbard; great-grandchildren, Kori, Cuatro, Madeline, Ella, Rylee, and Kayden; and sisters, Bonnie Fancher and her husband, Sherman, of Vidor and LeeAnn Veillon of Beaumont.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Gillespie; son, Walter Gillespie, Jr.; granddaughter, Vickie Stephenson; three brothers; and two sisters.

A gathering of Mrs. Gillespie's family and friends will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Fellowship Cemetery, Highway 1943 West, Warren.
