George James “Turk”
Farris, 87, of Beaumont, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Beaumont Health Care.
He was born on August 8, 1928, in Gary, Indiana, to Julia Rehal Farris and
James George Farris, and had been a resident of Beaumont since 1970. George was
a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He retired as an
insurance agent from National Life and Accident Insurance after thirty-two
years of employment. George later worked for two other insurance companies in
Gary, Indiana, and Beaumont for fifteen years.
He
is survived by his sons, Richard Farris, of Beaumont; James Farris and his
wife, Mili, of Houston; and John Farris and his wife, Michelle, of Lumberton;
grandchildren, Mia Farris and Mariana Farris, both of Houston; sister-in-law,
Diane Farris, of Denver, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.
George
is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jeanine Farris; parents; brother,
Fred Joseph Farris; and sister, Edna Ann Bubik and Rose Marie Farris.
A
gathering of Mr. Farris’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., with a Christian Wake at 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2016, at
Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at St. Jude Thaddeus
Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. His graveside service will be
1:15 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans
Memorial Drive, Houston.
