Katherine Ann Grable,
25, of Houston, died Thursday, June 9, 2016. She was born on May 10, 1991, in
Beaumont, to Kimberly Katherine Shane Grable and Gary Lynn Grable.
Katherine
was a good Christian and attended Catholic schools, graduating from Kelly
High School in 2009. While attending
Kelly, she played on the high school softball
team for four years, winning state championship her junior year. Katherine also
played on several select softball teams throughout her high school years. Katherine attended McLennan Community College
on a Softball scholarship from 2009-2011 where she received an Associate’s
degree in Science. She attended
University of Houston and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in
2015. She earned her teaching
certificate in 2016 and was about to begin her career as a second grade teacher
in the fall at Pearland Independent School District.
Katherine
never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone she met. She was very kind-hearted and selfless. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt,
cousin, and friend. She had an
infectious smile that lit up any room she walked into and made everyone
happy. She had fun everywhere she went
and had many friends. Katherine was a
true listener and always made time for anyone who needed her.
Katherine
loved the outdoors, riding the river, hanging out on the beach, and spending
time in the backyard with her family.
She was an aspiring artist and enjoyed painting abstract art.
Katherine is survived
by her parents, Gary and Kim Grable of Beaumont; maternal grandparents, Robert
R. Shane, Jr. and Leanna Catherine Shane of Rose City; brothers, Gary Grable II
and wife Amanda Grable, and Joshua Shane
Grable, both of Richwood, Texas, and one nephew Samuel Jude Grable; and
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. “You were the Queen of our
family!”
A Rosary will be recited
for Katherine at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016, with a gathering of her
family and friends to follow, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 13,
2016, St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont, with her
interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
