Charline Dauphin, 86, of Silsbee, died
Friday, June 3, 2016. She was born on April 4, 1930, in Benoit, Mississippi,
to Violet Southerland Ready and Charles Ready.
Charline graduated from Halsville High School
and later went to Kilgore
College where she was a
Rangerette. There she met Sidney “Chief”
Dauphin and they later married. Chief
and Charline moved to Silsbee in 1961, where Chief worked as a coach at Silsbee High School. In 1969 Chief and Charline made a decision to
start their home health business, Texas Home Health, which was started in
Silsbee in Charline’s kitchen with three people. It later grew to twenty-seven offices and
over 10,000 employees.
After working for thirty-one
years and after the untimely death of Chief, Charline sold the business and focused
on being a community activist and philanthropist. One of her most active roles was in the
support of the fight against cancer.
Survivors include her daughter,
Robin Dauphin of Silsbee; sister, Sandra Godwin and her husband, Johnny, of
Longview; nieces, Darla Denby and her husband, Kevin, of Longview and Adonna
Bromley of Gladewater; great-nephews, Dalton Brister and Brandon Brister, both of
Longview; and very dear and trusted friend, Jim Willis of Silsbee.
Honoring Charline as pallbearers are
Heath McGallion, Craig McGallion, Bobby McGallion, Darrell McGallion, Bobby
Kelley, and Kenny Davenport.
A gathering of Mrs. Dauphin’s
family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5,
2016, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery
Road, Silsbee.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2016, at
Broussard’s, Silsbee, with her interment at 3:00 p.m., at Memory Park in Longview.
