Jordan,
90, of Fred, died Thursday, May 19, 2016.
He was born on December 20, 1925, in Beech Creek, to Addie Ratcliff
Jordan and Oscar Jordan.
Newton
was an active member of Mt.
Nebo Baptist
Church where he served as
treasurer and Deacon for many years. He
also served on the Warren
Independent School
District school board. Newton
was a carpenter by trade and liked to garden.
He loved God, his family, and his church. Newton
was always on the go, whether to be at a great-grandchild’s ballgame or visiting
with friends and family. He was full of
life and showed the joy of the Lord in all things. He was loved by all and will be greatly
missed.
Survivors include his children,
Julia Fountain and her husband, Steve, of Fred and Steve Jordan and his wife,
Melissa, of Warren; grandchildren, Doot Greenwood and his wife, Christina, of
Spurger; Amy Johnson and her husband, Jerald, of Evadale; Kim Spurlock and her
husband, Jason, of Fred; and Steven Jordan and his wife, Amanda, of Lumberton;
great-grandchildren, Jamie Johnson, Gracie Greenwood, Della Greenwood, Faith
Greenwood, Sam Spurlock, Emma Spurlock, Brayden Jordan, and Cason Jordan;
sisters, Mary Williams of Beech Creek and Lottie Jones of Spurger; and brother,
Earl Jordan. He is preceded in death by
his parents; wife of sixty-five years, Ina Frances Jordan; great-grandson,
Matthew Johnson; and brothers, Horace, J.B., and Joe Jordan.
A gathering of Mr. Jordan’s family and friends will be 4:00 p.m.
until 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Mt.
Nebo Baptist Church, 13259 FM 1943 Road East, Fred, Texas 77616, under the
direction of Broussard’s, Silsbee. His
funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Church, with
his interment to follow at Franks
