Ernest James
“E.J.” Huckaby, 82, of Hemphill, died Wednesday, May 18, 2016. He was born on August
18, 1933, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Gladys and Hugh Huckaby.
E.J. was a
United States Army veteran. He enjoyed traveling across the United States in his
R.V. with his family. E.J. retired from Goodrich at the age of fifty-five,
staying in the area for number of years before moving to the Lakes. He enjoyed
cooking with the Texas Cajun’s Incorporate and loved the Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors
include his wife, Shirley Huckaby of Hemphill; sons, Tim Huckaby and his wife,
Ruby, of Fort. Worth and Mark Nolen of Hemphill; daughters, Kathy Jacobs and
Cindy Romero, both of Dallas and Rochelle Poindexter and her husband, David, of
Hemphill; and Judy Biscamp of Silsbee; eleven grandchildren; thirteen
great-grandchildren; special grandson, Chris Oliver; special granddaughter,
Kenzi Oliver; brother, Charles Huckaby and his wife, Ruby, of Port Neches;
sister, Joyce Hatcher and her husband, Joe, of Sour Lake; and numerous nieces
and nephews.
He was
preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of
E.J.’s family and friends will be 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 2:00
p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
His interment will be at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
