Dorothy “Dot” Cobb Wade
Tesson, 88, of Houston, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in her home. She was born
on May 29, 1927, in Call, Texas, to Mildred Beavers Cobb and Oliver O. Cobb.
Dot grew up in China,
Texas living with extended family and graduated from China High School. She
attended Sam Houston College in Huntsville and graduated from Lamar University
in Beaumont. She married Luke Wade in 1946 and they moved to College Station
for his education. After his graduation they lived in New Orleans and Morgan
City, Louisiana until his death in 1959. After his death she moved back to
Beaumont with her children. In Beaumont,
she returned to school and worked for Shaffer Tools. In 1966 she moved her family to New Orleans
to take a job as a business consultant.
In 1970 she married Pat Tesson and in 1972 they started a business in
the oil industry doing support work. That business grew into several businesses
world-wide and she resided with Pat in Houston, Scotland, and Singapore for the
next 20 years. She and Pat retired in
Park City, Utah. Their home in Park City
was open to all their family and friends (and children’s friends) for
vacations. They returned to the Houston
area for the final years of their lives.
Though she came to them in the middle of her life, she loved golf and
snow skiing, but family was her passion.
Dot is survived by her
daughters, Linda Humphries and her husband, Bryan, of Conroe, and Debra Powell of New Orleans, Louisiana; sons,
David Wade of Conroe; Michael Wade and his wife, Jan, of Centennial, Colorado;
Richard Tesson of Houston; grandchildren, Geoff Humphries of The Woodlands;
Jonathan Humphries of The Woodlands; John Winslow, and his wife, Stormy, of The
Woodlands; Jay Winslow and his wife, Jeni, of Denver, Colorado; Ginny Weigleb and
her husband, Daniel, of Louisville; Daniel Winslow and his wife, Leticia, of
Spring; Julie Bonomo and her husband, James, of Nashville, Tennessee; Wes
Walker of Newport Beach, California; Barrett Tesson and his wife, Brittany, of
Houston; Mimi Tesson of Houston; Alexxandra Tesson of Houston; Beth Haga and
her husband, Chris, of Dallas; Tiffany Hillegass and her husband, James, of
Covington, Louisiana; and Patrick Tesson Jr. of Houston; and great-grandchildren,
Katelyn and Courtney Humphries of Conroe; Sarah and Sam Winslow of The
Woodlands; Haley, Sydney, Kylie, and Aaron Winslow of Spring; Evan, Whitney and
Savannah Winslow of Denver, Colorado; Kyra Shuler of Nashville, Tennessee;
Lucas, Oliver and Elijah Weigleb of Louisville; and Avery and Barrett Tesson of
Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She is preceded in
death by her parents; first husband, Luke Hampton Wade, Jr.; second husband,
Prosper Anthony Tesson; and her sisters, Helen Short and Lois Rogers.
A gathering of Mrs.
Tesson’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral service
to follow at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000
McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial
Park, Beaumont.
