Rena Londow Wesley,
88, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, May 5, 2016. A native and lifelong resident
of the area, she was born on February 7, 1928, in Port Arthur, to Aneta Duhon
Londow and Victor Londow.
Rena retired from
Port Arthur Independent School District after many years of service. She
enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and working word puzzles. Rena was an
excellent cook and avid reader. She was involved in many activities and
organizations over the years including being a Den mother, Home Room mother, an
honorary P.T.A. member, Quincy Homemakers, Emeritus member of Meatra Education
Group, Ladies Auxilary Ct 32, Past Grand Lady, Seniors Alive, 2015 Winners for
life Women of the Year, Winners for Life Walk-a-thon, Port Arthur Reunion
Member, twelve years in the Experience Corp, Golden Age Organization, Senior
Olympic, Band Booster Club President, and a Honeybee Sponsor. Rena had
experience as a babysitter, taxi driver, and seamstress. She was also involved
in her church as a Sacred Heart Usher, CCD teacher, member of the Gospel Choir,
and member of the Mass Choir.
Survivors include
her sons, John A. Londow of Port Arthur; Robert V. Wesley and his wife, Stephanie,
of Houston; and Jorge Ayala, Sr. and his wife, Dalia, of McKinney; daughters,
Anita Wesley Dupree and her husband, Jerry Wayne, Sr.; Yvette Wesley; and
Yvonne Wesley Guidry and her husband, Charles Sr., all of Port Arthur;
grandchildren, Thaddeus and his wife, Jessica, Brianna, K’Sean, Averi, Thailan,
Jorge, Jr., Chloe, Aiyana, Branisha, and Chaize; great-grandchildren, Brynce,
Brielle, Kaylee, K’Sean, Jr., and Terryn; nieces, Veronica Mayo, Cynthia White,
and Kathy and Joetta Londow; nephew, Kenneth; sisters-in-laws, Dr. Mattie
Londow and Johnetta Londow; and special friends, Annie Mae Jean and Dorothy
Frazier.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; husband of forty-one years, A.B. Wesley; and brothers,
Robert, James, Victor, Raymond, Henry Paul, Eldridge, and Luke Londow.
A gathering of
Mrs. Wesley’s family friends will begin at 8:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian
Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Sacred Heart - St.
Mary Catholic Church, 920 Booker T. Washington Avenue, Port Arthur. Her
interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Park, Port Arthur.
