Brantley G. Hickman, 93, of Winnie, died Wednesday, April
27, 2016, at his residence. He was born on July 24, 1922, in Castor, Louisiana,
to Lula Campola Camp and Brantley Leon Hickman, and had been a longtime
resident of the Winnie area.
Brantley was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge 137, and
was retired from Pipefitters Local 195. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He also enjoyed bluegrass and Christian music. He was devout in his faith and
will be missed by many.
He is survived by daughter, Doris Schkade her husband, Glen,
of Groves; sons, Ellis Hickman and his wife, Ruth and Billy Hickman, all of
Winnie; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother Reverend Buck
Hickman; and numerous nieces; nephews; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by parents; wife of sixty-six
years, Minnie Onethea Hickman; and many brothers and sisters.
A gathering of Mr. Hickman’s family and friends will be from
5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016, at Broussard’s, 135 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30,
2016, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
The family would like to give special thanks to Brenda
Latta, Mr. Hickman’s caregiver, for the care given to their dad and to Gentiva
Hospice for the support and compassion given during his illness.
