John Ray Deshotel, 75, of
Kountze, died Sunday, April 17, 2016. He
was born on April 3, 1941, in Iota, Louisiana,
to Mavis Stroder Deshotel and John Deshotel.
John served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era
and retired from the military as a Chief Warrant Officer 2, and Military Tank
Inspector.
Survivors include his wife, Janis
Deshotel; children, Randy Deshotel and Belinda Deshotel, both of Kountze; and
Terrance Deshotel and his wife, Lita, of Canada; grandchildren, Ashley Deshotel,
John “Jace” Deshotel and his girlfriend, Shae, Terrance Deshotel, Jr., Desiree
Deshotel, Zachary Deshotel and his wife, Jamie Page, and Jesse Tait;
great-grandchildren, Randall, Kyla, Steven, Leland, Kayleigh, Hailey, Thomas,
Michael, Ryder, Kolton, Blaze, and Kade; sisters, Jane Babineaux and her
husband, Wilton, of Jennings, Louisiana; Eva Yocky of Lake Charles, Louisiana
and Patricia Deshotel of Jennings, Louisiana, and brother, Mervin Deshotel of
Tallahassee, Florida. He is preceded in
death by his parents; and brothers,
Robert Lee Deshotel and James Deshotel.
A gathering of Mr. Deshotel’s
family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April
21, 2016, with Military Honors at 11:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe,
Kountze. His interment will be at Houston National Cemetery,
10410 Veterans Memorial Drive,
Houston.
