Richard
John “Dick” Foulk went to worship at Jesus’ throne with his wife, Marguerite,
on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. At the time of his passing at his son’s home in
Friendswood, TX he was surrounded by his devoted children Richard David Foulk
and Diana Foulk Baker of Lubbock, TX. Also ministering to him were members of
the loving staff of A-Med Hospice Care.
Dick was
born to John Vicencio and Myrtle Ferne Foulk Vicencio on November 13, 1923, in Dayton,
Ohio. He graduated from high school in 1940 and received a degree in Chemistry
from York College in York, Nebraska in 1947.
Dick
served in the 344th Bomber Group during World War II as a Bombardier/Navigator
in B-26’s. While serving in the European Theatre, he received numerous medals
and citations. Recently he was awarded
the French Legion d’Honneur and appointed to the rank of Knight of the Legion
of Honor. After the war, Dick continued to serve in the USAF Reserve Officer
Corps where he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After his
service in World War II, Dick met, married, and lived a loving and rewarding
marriage with the darling of his eye. He was married July 31, 1948, in
Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Marguerite Lantrip Cook and they enjoyed a marriage of
sixty-one years.
Dick was
employed as a chemist and Manager of Product Control Laboratories by Texaco
Refinery in New York, Port Arthur, and Amarillo until his retirement in 1985.
He is
survived by his son, Richard D. Foulk, of Friendswood; daughter, Diana Baker
and her husband, Tom, of Lubbock; grandchildren, Bryan Foulk, of Alvin; Kristin
Konvicka and her husband, Shawn, of Webster; Joshua Baker and his wife, Kara,
of Wolfforth; Jonathan Baker and his wife, Lauren, of Abilene; and Cassie
Baker, of Hart; and great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Justin, and Michael Foulk,
and Benjamin, Rylan, Jase, Caleb and Jonah Baker.
A
gathering of Mr. Foulk’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2016, at First
Baptist Church Beaumont, 3739 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with his interment
to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
