James "Jim" Cassity

James
“Jim” Cassity, 86, of Beaumont, Texas, died Friday, April 1, 2016. He was born
on February 15, 1930, to Virginia Williams Cassity and Roe Cassity, in
Cassville, Missouri. Jim was wonderful father, grandfather and
great-grandfather. He was a great example of hard work having worked 40 years
with Mobil Pipeline, retiring in 1990. His "work" then was his daily
golf game. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Most recently he worked to
keep his birds and squirrels happy. His homemade ice cream was the best in the
world. We miss you and love you Dad.
Survivors
include his wife, Mary Cassity; son, Michael Cassity and his wife, Bettie, of
Portland, Texas; daughter, Valerie Thorsell and her husband, William, of
Chanute, Kansas; son, Randall Cassity and his wife, Karen, of Lumberton, Texas;
brother, Ted Cassity and his wife, Dixie, of Wolfort, Texas; eight
grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He
is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Cassity; sister, Nancy
Turner; and grandson, William Cassity.
A
gathering of Mr. Cassity’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
An additional gathering of his family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with
his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at First
Christian Church, 316 West Main Street, in Madison, Kansas. A family graveside
service will be held at Vilas Bethel Cemetery in Wilson County, Kansas.
