Jhovita Lamar Miller,
83, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Baptist Hospitals of
Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on June 23, 1932, in Beaumont, to Norma
Ura Singleton Pickett and John David Pickett, and had been a lifelong resident
of the area. Lamar was a retired cafeteria manager for South Park High School with the Beaumont Independent School District.
Lamar is survived by
her sons, Joe Ed Miller of Bastrop; R.L. Miller and his wife, Stacy, of Port
Neches and Robert Miller and his wife, Joyce, of Marshall; daughters, Shelia
Drumm of Vidor; Sandra White and her husband, Dr. John C., of Beaumont;
and Sheri Johnson and her husband, Phillip, of Fannett; grandchildren, Lisa
Lewis, Heather Miller Camp, April Hoffman, Charles Drumm, Brooke White, Magen
White, Elizabeth Woomer, Noah Miller, and Emily Bratten; eleven
great-grandchildren; brothers, William Huckabay and Reed Huckabay; and sister,
Lockle Lu Fowler.
She is preceded in
death by her parents; husband, Rueben A. Miller; and brothers, Jack Pickett and
Conley Huckabay.
A Rosary will be
recited for Mrs. Miller at 4:00 p.m., a Christian Vigil at 5:00 p.m., and a
gathering to follow until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000
McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at
10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church 2715 Calder,
Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
