Alice Lynn Lankford
June 28, 1935 - March 27, 2016
Alice
Lynn Lankford, age 80, died at home in Nederland on March 27, 2016. She was
born in Houston June 28, 1935, to the late Mabel and Claude Blankenship. Alice attended
Stephen F Austin before marrying Charles Lankford on February 8 1957. They
moved to Nederland where they raised their three daughters, Leslie, Terri, and
Stacy.
Alice
had a wonderful sense of humor, loved life to the fullest, and never wanted to
miss out on any fun! Me Maw especially loved to play... and WIN… International
Rummy with her family. She delighted in being able to say “ZERO” when she won a
hand. Alice worked at Swope Travel Agency for many years before opening
Lankford Travel Agency in 1982. She was a very smart business woman who was
unquestionably honest and treated customers just as she would want to be
treated. Therefore, many of her clients became dear friends. She was very well
respected by her colleagues in the travel industry. Alice loved to travel, go
to the farm, and in more recent years she and Charles enjoyed trips in their 5th
wheeler. Despite health challenges, Alice never gave up. She couldn’t wait to
get back to her water aerobics and Silver Sneakers class at the YMCA with her
dear friend Joann Rienstra. Alice was a member of Dowlen Road Church of Christ.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Claude Blankenship; and loving
daughter, Leslie Beasley.
She
is survived by her husband, Charles; Son in Law, Michael Beasley (Grandchildren
Matt and Allyson); daughter, Terri Freeman (grandchildren Samantha and Haley,
and great granddaughter Ava); daughter, Stacy Rice (husband Ren, grandchildren
Aaren, Sydney, Ivey, and Renzey).
In
lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Booty Ritter Senior Center, 914
Boston Avenue, Nederland Texas 77627.
