Laura "Polly Pop" Abshire

Laura “Polly Pop” Abshire, 73, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, March 20, 2016. She was born on January 8, 1943, in Merryville, Louisiana, to Mearl Molene Cooper Lott and John Armstrong Lott.  

Laura enjoyed time with her family and friends and loved the color, purple. She will be remembered as a good housekeeper and cook.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, Allen Abshire; daughter, Cheryl Bernal and her husband, Jesse, of Groves; sons, Allen Abshire, Jr. of Rosharon and Jeffrey Lynn Abshire and his wife, Brenda, of Freeport; grandchildren, Eddie, Rachel, Dara, Hannah, Nathan, Allena, Patrick, Joshua, and Ian; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Noah, and Mikayla; sister, Ila Faye Brooks of Beaumont; and brother, W.A. Lott and his wife, Darlene, of Merryville, Louisiana.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Abshire; grandson, Dylan Avery; brothers, John and James Lott; and her ferret, Bandit.

A graveside service for Mrs. Abshire will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
