Jack Everett Follmer,
87, of Beaumont, died Thursday, March 10, 2016. He was born on September 1,
1928, in Beaumont, to Frances Reville Follmer and Henry E. Follmer, and was a
lifelong resident of Beaumont.
Jack graduated from
Beaumont High School and attended Texas A&M University. During his lifetime
he was a Scoutmaster of Troop 78, an auctioneer, and a Master Gardener. Jack
enjoyed woodworking, making clocks and toys for children. Later in life, he
volunteered at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital for several years until his
health prevented it. Jack enjoyed his family and friends and always found humor
in life.
Jack is survived by his
wife of sixty-six years, Jerry Follmer, of Beaumont; children, Butch Follmer
and his partner, Arnel Punongbayan, of East Hampton, New York; Lea Anne Harvey
and her husband, Bubba, of Beaumont; and Mark Follmer and his wife, Caroline,
of Beaumont; grandchildren, Patrick Follmer, Jr. and Caitlin Harvey; great
grandchildren, Seth Follmer and Gavin Follmer; brothers, Richard Follmer and
his wife, Camille, of South Padre; and Roy Follmer and his wife, Lynda, of
Beaumont; sister, Mary Follmer of Missouri; nephew, Joel Follmer; and niece,
Stacy Ribbick.
He is preceded in death
by his son, Patrick Follmer; and brother, Ellis Follmer.
A gathering of Mr.
Follmer’s family and friends will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday
March 13, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral
service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016, at Broussard’s, with
interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
