Mary Harlow Rider
Vernier, 68, of Nederland, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016. She was born on
November 15, 1947, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Mildred Turner Harlow and Gene
Harlow.
Mary was a retired
Registered Nurse and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Port Neches.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening. Mary will be remembered for
her caring heart and compassion for others.
Survivors include her
daughter, Heather Rider Pruett of Nederland; grandchildren, Ryan Washburn of
Austin, Lauren Washburn of College Station, and Holly Washburn of Nederland; sisters,
Phyllis Perez and her husband, Eddie, of Kountze and Peg Pugh and her husband,
Peter, of Oxford, Mississippi; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives
and friends.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; children, William Anthony and Holly Anne Rider; sisters,
Patty Bernard, Carolyn Harper, Linda deWit, and Bonita “Gay-Gay” Jordan; and
her husband, Charles Vernier.
The family would like to
extend a special thanks to her niece, Angela Renee Harlow and C.J. and Tiffany
Jergenson for all their help.
A memorial service for Mrs. Vernier will be 2:00
p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016, at First Baptist Church, 1900 Magnolia Avenue,
Port Neches. Per Mary’s request, her body was donated to science.
