Suzanne Margaret Airhart
October 18, 1947 - February 23, 2016
Suzanne was born in New Orleans Louisiana,
daughter of Ganelle and Malcolm Brunet. She moved to Beaumont at age 2. She graduated from Forest Park High School in 1966 afterwards starting
college at LSU. Suzanne met Eddie Airhart in Baton Rouge. She married Eddie and
moved to Lake Charles
where she had Michael. The three of them moved to Beaumont in 1968. Suzanne earned her
Dental Hygiene degree from Lamar in 1974. She worked as a Dental Hygienist
through the 1970s and into the 80s.
Suzanne and Eddie had always wanted
to get out into the country so they began to search for property. They
found and purchased land in a new community named "Ranchland", just
south of Kountze, Texas. Over the next several years
they worked weekends on the land to clear it and prepare a home site.
They completed the home in 1981 and moved in just before Christmas.
In 1999 their Grandson, Matthew was
born. Suzanne was so excited to have Matthew in her life and would share
stories with anyone who would listen.
In the late 90s Suzanne got to know
the staff at Hardin County Precinct 2. Commissioner Golden and Gina
quickly became good friends with Suzanne. Suzanne and Eddie started work
on a computerized way to help Gina and the Commissioner track their work records.
This grew into a computer program known as "Precinct Tracker".
Precinct Tracker continued to grow beyond Hardin County
as they attended county commissioner conferences across the state.
Suzanne and Eddie worked many long hours to continue to improve Precinct
Tracker throughout the 2000s.
In 2011 Suzanne was dealt a terrible
blow with the sudden passing of Eddie. His loss created a large hole
which was very difficult to fill. Her family and dear friends in Hardin County
rose to the challenge and helped her continue to find purpose and allow her
spirit to reemerge.
Life had another curve ball for
Suzanne when it was discovered her mother, Ganelle had cancer. This
was a tough battle which was lost in 2013, creating another difficult setback
for her. Again her family and dear friends were there to support
her. She again rose up and shared her humor and wonderful smile with all
of those around her.
As 2015 came to a close she had a
wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with Eddie's family in Lake Charles, and then a relaxing Christmas
at home with Matthew and Michael. 2015 ended on an upbeat and 2016 had
the potential for more. She was unaware of the larger plans for her
and that she would be called home so early.
You will be forever missed. God Speed A gathering of Mrs. Airhart's family and friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe Kountze, with her graveside service to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, P.O. Box 1629, Beaumont, Texas 77704 or Southeast Texas Food Bank, P.O. Box 21012, Beaumont, Texas 77720.
