Doris
Dodson Hammock, 97, of Beaumont, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016,
after a lengthy illness.
She
married Curtis A. Hammock in 1944, and they were married fifty-one years until
Curtis’ death in 1996. Doris was born in
Port Arthur, on December 4, 1918, and lived there until 2000 when she moved to
Beaumont. She worked at Gulf Oil then
Dryden’s Department store until she retired.
Doris volunteered at Park Place Hospital for sixteen years and then at
Baptist Hospital until 2014.
Doris
was a Christian and loved the Lord. She
was a faithful member of Northwest Church of Christ. Doris was a loving, wonderful mother and wife
and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Doris
is survived by her son, Curt (Mike) Hammock and his wife, Faranghise; grandson,
Alex, of Aurora, Colorado; daughter, Shawn Sanders and her husband, Dan Sanders,
of Huffman, and his children, Danessa Sanders of Willis and Micah Sanders of
Portland, Oregon.
A
gathering of Mrs. Hammock’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with
her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2016, at
Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at
Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
