Ida Marie Dodson

Ida
Marie Wondrak Dodson passed away peacefully in Clute, Texas, on January 26,
2016, surrounded by family. Born in San Antonio, on May 18, 1930, to Frances and
George Patrick Wondrack, Ida lived most of her life in Beaumont. She graduated
from the University of Houston with a degree in Education and was a devoted
teacher to many children and adults of all ages. She especially loved her years
as owner and Director of Dodson’s Westside Early Childhood Center. Ida was passionate about her family, friends,
her devoted dog Heidi, sewing, oil painting, playing bridge, and volunteering
with RCIA, Some Other Place and CASA.
Known
to those who loved her as Ida, Mom, Grandma, and O.G., Ida was a generous and
loving wife of sixty-two years to husband, Troy Dodson, Sr.
She
is survived by her children, Troy Dodson, Jr. and his wife, Pam; Cindy Taylor;
Julie Littlefield and her husband, David; Peggy McDonald and her husband, Johnie;
and George Dodson; ten grandchildren, Shelly Dodson Lester and her husband,
Evan; Stacey Dodson; Marshall and Morgan Taylor; Emily, Clayton and Aubrey
Littlefield; Erin, Jeremy and Jake Hemmings; sister, Mary Jo Holl and her husband,
Bob; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along
with her husband and parents, Ida was preceded in death by sisters, Rita Riley
and Carolyn Galliford; and brother, George Wondrak.
A
Rosary for Mrs. Dodson will be recited at 5:00 p.m. with a gathering of family
and friends to follow, Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North
Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2016, at
St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with interment
to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
