James Dennis Keene

James
Dennis Keene, 66, of Fannett, died Monday, January 11, 2016, at Christus
Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on May 27, 1949, to Mildred
Lurlene Pickens and James Dixie Keene, in Pasadena, and was a United States Air
Force veteran.
Dennis
was graduated with his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston then
went on to receive his master’s degree from the University of Phoenix later in
life. He began his medical training shortly after college and later became a
certified licensed respiratory therapist and a registered polysomnographist.
Dennis and Trish took ownership of Sleep Labs of Texas in 2001. Dennis served
as a councilman for the city of Pasadena from 1983-1985. He enjoyed sports and
was a high school football official for a number of years.
Often
opinionated, Dennis never missed a chance to share his thoughts. He valued his
friendships, time spent at the beach, trips to Key West, and would encourage
you to vote Republican.
Survivors
include his wife of twenty-six years, Tricia Stansbury Keene of Fannett;
daughters, Robin Keene Brito of Clear Lake and Dixie Keene Russell of Pasadena;
sister, Vicky Ross and her husband, Dan, of Austin; grandchildren, Alyssa
Brito, Matthew Russell, Lexie Russell, and Roy Daniel Sabedra; aunt, Bonetta
Pitts of Pasadena; and his fur babies, Maggie and Duval.
He
is preceded in death by his stepson, Brandon Preston and sister, Pamela Keene.
A
gathering of Mr. Keene’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive,
Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 14,
2016, at Broussard’s. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday
afternoon, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Smithville.
