Armando
Fernandez, 68, of Beaumont, died Saturday, January 2, 2016. He was born on December 7, 1947, in Corpus
Christi, to Teresa Martinez Fernandez and Jose Fernandez.
Armando
and Emma were married on October 15, 1966 and moved to Beaumont in 1972. He attended
Del Mar Technical School and received his certification in welding. Armando
worked many years in construction and petro chemical industry. He was employed
for Bethlehem Steel Shipyard from 1972-1988 and also worked for Pasadena Tank
Corporation where he was the Superintendent.
Armando
loved to fish, hunt, play golf, and travel. Mostly, he enjoyed spending time
with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Armando
is survived by his wife of more than forty-nine years, Emma Fernandez, of
Beaumont; son, Armando Fernandez and his wife, Sachiko, of Austin;
grandchildren, Meg Yuuki Fernandez and Brandon Tiaga Fernandez, of Austin;
brother, Jose A. Fernandez; sisters, Yolanda Guerrero and her husband, Domingo;
and Gracie Barrientes and her husband, Joe, all of Corpus Christi; Sylvia
Garcia, of Beaumont; faithful Chihuahua, Lupe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He
is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Rolando Fernandez.
A
memorial mass for Mr. Fernandez will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Saturday,
January 16, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont,
under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His
ennichment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148.
