Letha
Jones Mudd, 90, of Beaumont, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015, at her
home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 25, 1925, in Logansport,
Louisiana, to Lillie Jane Stewart and Reuben Calvin Jones, and had been a
longtime resident of Beaumont. She
graduated from Port Neches High School where she was voted “most beautiful” by
her classmates.
Letha
is survived by B.L. Smith, who has provided her twelve wonderful years of love
and companionship, for which we are very grateful; her daughters, Dee Stevens
of Beaumont, Jan Condrey, of Missouri City, and Susan Kirwin, of Crystal Beach;
sons, Ronnie Mudd and Donald Mudd; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great
grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Mildred Wiedenhoff,
of Groves and Billie Smith, of Tyler.
She
is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-nine years, Jerald Mudd; three
sisters; and one brother.
A
gathering of Mrs. Mudd’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her
funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016, at St. Stephen’s
Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware Street, Beaumont. Interment will follow at
Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605
North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Serving
as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Grant Spencer, Brandon and Mason Stevens,
Greg and Taylor Condrey, Joseph Mudd, Michael Mudd, and Jordan Kirwin. Honorary
pallbearers will be Ricky Culbertson and Gordon Birdwell.
In
lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Episcopal
Church, 4090 Delaware Street, Beaumont, Texas 77706; or to the Alzheimer’s
Association, 700 North Street, Suite M, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
