Joseph
Christopher Matthews, III, 36, of Beaumont, died Thursday, December, 3,
2015. He was born on December 20, 1978,
in Beaumont, to Charlotte Diane Price Matthews and Joseph Christopher Matthews,
II.
After
attending Austin Community College and Lamar University, Chris worked for
several years as an electrician for Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, Port
Arthur.
He
is survived by his daughter, Taya Marie Matthews, of Beaumont; grandmother,
Victoria Price, of Beaumont; grandfather, Harold L. Price, of San Antonio;
longtime companion, Angel Abbot, of Beaumont and her children, Devin Abbot,
Alexis Abbot, and Kristian Abbot; uncle, Lee Price and his wife, Laura, of
Katy; aunt, Patti Noble and her husband, Mike, of Arlington Heights, Illinois;
and numerous cousins including, Alicia Schmidt, of Beaumont.
Chris
is preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Matthews; and father, Joseph
Christopher Matthews, II.
A gathering of Mr. Matthews’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m.
until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin
Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service
will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2015, at Calder Baptist Church, 1005 North 11th Street, Beaumont,
with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.
