Massingill Penney passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at the age of 86, in
Winnie, Texas. She was born August, 18, 1929, in Hull Texas, to Harlow B. and
Nora Stephenson Massingill.
Ms. Penney
was the former wife of local resident, J. L. “Jake” Phelps, who preceded her in
death. Winnie, or Aunt Tiny, as most of her family knew her, had no children
but leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
She was a
most generous person and always had a kind word for everyone she met. Her
unique faith in God left her imminently ready to meet her Lord. She lived and
worked in the Liberty, Dayton and Baytown area for many years. She was a
confident, effervescent, strong willed lady that provided for herself and gave
generously to her church, family, and friends.
A gathering
of Ms. Penney’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her funeral
service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at Broussard’s,
134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery,
Winnie.
